Tancraft (Tanzania Handicraft Association) is a registered non-profit organization established in 2006 under the societies Act (Certificate No. SO. 14470). We are the premier umbrella body dedicated to promoting, preserving, and advancing the arts and crafts sector in Tanzania.
We are the premier umbrella body uniting artisans, designers, and creative enterprises across Tanzania. For nearly two decades, we have served as a vital bridge between traditional craftsmanship and modern market opportunities connecting our members to training, resources, exhibitions, and a growing network of local and international partners. Our work spans diverse sectors including painting, textiles, basketry, pottery, beads, leather, cosmetics, and more.
We exist to promote and preserve Tanzania’s rich heritage of arts and crafts while empowering artisans to innovate and thrive. Through training programs, shared production facilities, quality certification, and market access initiatives, we transform creative talent into sustainable livelihoods. Guided by our core values of creativity, inclusivity, sustainability, and integrity, TanCraft is committed to building a vibrant future where arts and crafts stand as pillars of cultural identity, economic empowerment, and community development.
It is with great pride and purpose that I introduce our handicraft initiative to the public. Rooted in cultural heritage and driven by creativity, this endeavor brings together artisans whose skills reflect the richness of our traditions while embracing innovation for modern markets.
Our mission is to empower local craftspeople, preserve artistic knowledge, and connect communities through products that tell stories of identity, resilience, and beauty. Each piece is more than an object, it is a testament to the artistry of our people and the value of sustainable, community-driven enterprise.
By showcasing these handicrafts, we aim not only to celebrate culture but also to create opportunities for women, youth, and entrepreneurs to thrive. This platform is a bridge between tradition and progress, ensuring that our heritage continues to inspire future generations while contributing to economic growth.
We welcome you to explore, appreciate, and support this journey of creativity and empowerment.
